Procedure[edit]
- Go to the Drivers License Office or mail your renewal
- Fill out the renewal form.
- Submit the completed form along with all other required documents:
- Medical report completely signed by a licensed physician within 6 months
- Certificate of eye examination completely signed by a licensed physician within 6 months
- Statement of Drivers license possession completed and notarized.
- You will need to complete and pass eye screening
- Pay the fees.
If renewal through mail, you can send the documents to:

- Obtained a valid drivers license
- Resident of Hawaii
- US Citizen
Fees[edit]
City and County of Honolulu: Driver License, Provisional License and Instruction Permit and Related Fees
Road Test : $8.00
Written Test: $2.00
Oral Test (Available at City Square and Wahiawa): $10.00
Instruction Permit : $5.00
- Renewal: $5.00
- Duplicate (to replace lost, stolen or damaged): $6.00
Provisional License:
- For those aged 16 thru 18: $5.00 per year or fraction thereof
- Duplicate (to replace lost, stolen or damaged): $6.00
Driver License :
- 2-Years (age 72 and older) : $10.00
- 4-Years (ages 17 thru 24) : $20.00
- 8-Years (ages 25 thru 71) : $40.00

- Reactivation (renewing after 90-day grace period) : $5.00 per 30-day period

- Your name as it appears on your current drivers license;
- Your social security number or drivers license number;
- Your date of birth;
- A phone number or e-mail address where you can be reached;
- An address where you can receive mail;
Need for the Document[edit]
Following are procedures on how you can renew a driver's license in Hawaii.
Information which might help[edit]
You will not be issued a driver's license, if:
- your license has been suspended or revoked by a court of law;
- you have failed to pass the required driver's examination;
- you have not deposited proof of financial responsibility (such as an auto liability insurance policy, surety bond, etc.) if State law for this responsibility applies to you;
- the examiner of drivers has good cause to believe that you would not be able to operate a motor vehicle safely upon the highways by reason of physical or mental disability;
- you are under the age of 16 years;
- you are 16 through 17 years of age, and do not have parental consent;
- you have a traffic violation which is unsatisfied or is pending a court hearing;
- you do not have an Instruction Permit or a valid driver's license from another U.S. jurisdiction.
- there is a stopper on the Problem Driver Pointer System (PDPS).
