Procedure

Apply By Mail

1. Write an application letter addressed to the Director of Animal Health and Development (DALHD) clearly specifying the animal or animal product , you intend to import
2. Pay the required application fees and obtain the bank slip
3. Attach all the required document to the application letter and send them to the DALHD through this mail address: Director for Animal Health and Development, PO Box 2096, Lilongwe, Malawi.
4. Upon reviewing the application, the director will order a pre-inspection where a back ground check is done on the diseases outbreaks from the country of origin
5. Then the inspector will prepare a report regarding the inspection and submit it to the director
6. Based on the a successful report, the director will approve your application and order issuing of the permit
7. The permit will be processed and then you will be notified through your contact when it is ready for collection
